International Conference: Functional genomics and proteomics for sustainable agriculture 2012

Conference to be held on occasion of 190th anniversary of birth of Gregor Mendel

June 13-14, 2012

Mendel Museum, Augustinian Abbey (map)
Mendel Square 1, Brno, Czech Republic

The foundation laid by Mendel with his discovery of the laws of inheritance has led, over the last century and a half, to molecular studies at the whole genome/proteome level.

Functional genomics and proteomics approaches are increasingly becoming indispensable for the understanding of basic biological processes in both plants and animals. The insights thus obtained are being often applied in the pharmaceutical industry, used in agricultural research, and for environmental protection.

In this year of Mendel's 190th birth anniversary, the conference will bring together a diverse collection of experts in order to address selected aspects of Functional Genomics and Proteomics in Plant and Agricultural Sciences.

Invited lectures:

Smýkal, Petr (Palacký University, Olomouc, Czech Republic) “Pea entering genomic era, 150 years after Mendel discovery”
